| 1418485 | 2016-04-08 20:51:00 | Funny you should say that. The two leaders that have inspired me in my life were Norman Kirk and David Lange. I admired Helen Clark but not inspired by her. Bill Rowling was a good guy et al. The current Labour leader is a dweeb. I think my big toe on my left foot has more going for it than he has. Sorry.??? forgotten his name. No National leader has inspired me over the years but I respect John Key. They have had bland leadership apart from Muldoon. However, they have nearly always have had better stability and confidence than Labour so have had most of my vote. Tell me I am wrong. Ken You are correct and voting history reflects that. |

| 1418486 | 2016-04-08 23:07:00 | Strange, I thought.... we have got to almost half way down page 2 of posts before John Key got a mention. You John Key haters are slipping. Ken ;) Well Im sorry Kenj that your man isnt getting enough press, so let me try and help. You see Ive been thinking! (that is the whirring noise youve been hearing, do not adjust your hearing aid or blame your medication) And, I have come to the conclusion that Key is a stooge, or a plant, if you like for the Waitangi Tribunal. Here is my Rationale: When Key became Prime Minister (having rubbished Helen Clark who he now endorses) he went about appointing a cabinet. Nothing unusual there. However, he made an odd choice for his "Treaty Settlement Minister" and "Attorney General" when selecting Chris Finlayson. You see Chris Finlayson was the Attorney acting for the Ngai Tahu iwi in their Treaty Settlements. Not only do we have a "conflict of interest", but Key has put The Fox in charge of the Hen House. From Wikipedia: At Bell Gully he spent years fighting for Ngāi Tahu against the government, pursuing its treaty claims through a series of high-profile court battles. "I used to love going to the office in the morning when we were suing the Crown", Finlayson said in a speech in 2009. "Ngai Tahu mastered the art of aggressive litigation, whether it was suing the Waitangi Tribunal and [National Treaty negotiations minister] Doug Graham or the Director-General of Conservation. It was take no prisoners and it resulted in a good settlement."[4] The signing of the Treaty deal with Ngāi Tahu in 1997, he said in his maiden speech in parliament, was the highlight of his legal career. Further, Chris Finlayson has stood in four Elections and been soundly defeated every time, so to be appointed as Attorney General and Treaty Minister as just a List MP takes some explaining. Further from Wikipedia: Since his appointment as Attorney General, Finlayson has been successful in reaching an unprecedented number of financial Waitangi Treaty settlements with many Maori iwi he had represented in private practice. He has also used his executive powers to make more High Court applications seeking litigants be prevented court access on grounds they are vexatious than in the prior 60 years,[5] including a protracted court battle against legal news blogger Vince Siemer. Well fancy that, the Judge finds in favour of those he previously represented and this aint rigged. But Finlayson is Modest to a Fault and without the blessing of his Peers appointed himself a QC. Wikipedia again: On 13 December 2012, Finlayson appointed himself[6] a Queen's Counsel due to his role as Attorney-General.[7] But to put the Icing on the cake, again Wikipedia: Finlayson has described himself as being an "odd fish" since he is [B]gay as well as being a Catholic.[3] He has no partner, and says he is celibate.[3] Now at this stage I must resist the temptation to wander off down the Gay Marriage Bill protagonists road, but Ill resist the temptation for now. | 1418488 | 2016-04-09 01:58:00 | Nothing has ever disturbed me that much that I would sit and write with such venom as much as you have BM. Key is not necessarily my man. I just get annoyed with your obsession with denigrating the man. If you were going on in the same vein about the Labour party leader (whose name I have forgotten again) I would feel the same. It seems that that well known chap John Doe from Waikikamukau only has to fart and you pop up blaming John Key. Vote him out, stand for parliament youself, do something other than what you do. That may give me some respect for you. It is a shame as apart from that I appreciate some of your non political writing. :) Ken |

Im simply calling it how I see it and dont really care who likes it or who lumps it . The facts are the facts, and if you can do so, go ahead and prove me wrong, then Id be happy to apologise . Remember that what I write I have researched and make a point of supplying my references when required . Its not just name calling . Finally, when Key was first elected I personally thought Thank Christ, someone with a few clues at last, but it wasnt long before I realised that I, along with a lot of others, had been duped . |
