| 1422048 | 2016-06-18 06:19:00 | the other thing is to remove the video card on use the onboard when installing. once w10 is up and running reinstall the video card. don't forget to keep a copy of your mother board drivers handy. i found i had a few glitches until i reinstalled the mobo drivers. |

Like many people I have both X86 & X64 handy already. It actually still said unable. To get it to install , I had to download the Media Creation Tool www.microsoft.com and run it from that. Usually I'd say download the ISO, but in this case I had to select upgrade this PC, at this stage it didn't protest about incompatible drivers, BUT once installed W10 had only put in basic Graphic Drivers, so had to locate them (from nvidia) and install the drivers Via Device manager, NOW its running nicely. SWMBO's PC was the same, the usual ISO I Have wouldn't work, so had to do it Via the Download the MCT selected, after that no problems, so THEN I download a ISO for her computer (just in case next time) :) To add to tweak'e's comment -- Still pays to go to the manufactures site and download any new drivers they have for your hardware - Microsoft ones don't always work fully or provide all working functions. |

Did what was suggested and downloaded to a USB then ran the installation and ended up with "SYSTEM THREAD EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED" So I have the Blue Screen of Death! Have managed to get into Safe mode and from what have read need to delete those damn Display Drivers - right? How do I get into them from Safe Mode? Thanks Start the computer, as soon as it gets past the starting to boot Press and hold down the power buton till it shuts down. Do this three times one after the other, on the third time is should appear to hang slightly, then come up with system repair- it will try and fail ( or should) you'll then have recovery options, one of which is start in safe mode. The window you want is in section 2 - Trouble shoot - recovery options: www.digitalcitizen.life |

| 1422052 | 2016-06-19 21:59:00 | Well I tried - and like the Wallabies - I lost! W10 did have an option to restore to a previous build - after 3 hours of "restarting" - did a hard reset and got "restoring your previous version of Windows" and left it to sulk overnight. Thankfully now back to W7 and appreciate that will leave W10 for another decade and by that time PCs will join the the dinosaurs. Thanks for the input anyway. | stuffed (1469) | ||
