1421701 2016-06-11 04:22:00 Have done a new install of Win 10 on a new hard drive, have kept 7 on original drive.

Why is it..........?
I made up a text file of all my passwords/keys for programs I've bought to help with installing them on the Win 10 drive.Saved the txt to another drive (I have 3 others)
Also saved to a flash drive.
When running off the Win 10 drive I couldn't find the txt file anywhere, except it showed on the flash drive when I plugged that in,then showed on the other drive.

When rebooting from the 7 drive it sometimes wants to do a checkdisk check on C drive and sometimes the 4?

Any ideas? Thanks.

1421702 2016-06-11 07:35:00 Try renaming the file to include .txt Of course this will depend on what program you are using to read .txt files. By default notepad will open .txt files. Also had similar if saving a .txt file to a flash drive, and sometimes it wont be seen on another computer unless when removing the flash drive its actually been disconnected via safe remove. Most people simply pullout flash drives which can and often does corrupt the contents.

Chkdsk runs when it detects corruption on any drives that are attached. This can be caused by many reasons, damaged data, cross linked files, failing HDD(s) with bad sectors, not shutting down correctly---- the list goes on.

1421703 2016-06-11 07:41:00 Thanks wainuitech. It was a .txt file.I actually put it in a folder to see if that would work, but 10 still didn't even see the folder, until I tried the flash drive which 10 saw. Neil McC (178)
1421704 2016-06-11 07:47:00 Where is the folder ? ( exact location) wainuitech (129)
1421705 2016-06-11 09:13:00 I put a new folder on another hard drive,either D,E or H.
Sorry,have deleted the folder now.
Called it Program keys and copied the .txt file inside. It was only after I saw the copy I put on the flash drive that the other folder became visible!
Please don't bother with it now, just wondered why it didn't show up! All programs are now installed.
Just Office to install and emails to transfer now.Another day tomorrow.
Thanks again.

1421706 2016-06-11 23:36:00 May I also ask...
Do I need to install the motherboard drivers for Win 10? Seems to be running OK.
Also when I turned on the printer it seems to have downloaded the drivers for it,took a while but it works.
Also the Nvidia card.
Bit different to ME days!

Example, on install W10 into my media center, the basic audio settings were there, but after installing the drivers from the manufacture the complete software, options appeared and could then adjust the speaker output 5 in 1 settings.

1421709 2016-07-30 04:35:00 Hi wainuitech.

I've just fired up the Win 10 Pro hard drive to do some more updating/installing of programs.Still using Win 7 for now.
I've just tried running the Asus P7P55D-E install disc using setup.exe.It comes up with the message "Motherboard Support CD does not support this operating system"

Have had a look at what's on the disc, and there are folders called BIN,
Drivers,Linux Drivers,Manual and Software.
In the Drivers folder are these folders.
Audio
BCU
Chipset
EPU6Engine
ExpressGateHDD
LAN
Raid
TurboVEVO
USB3

Do I need to go further on installing drivers for the motherboard then?
Thanks,
Neil

1421710 2016-07-30 04:53:00 Just had a look on the Asus site for you.
Chipset drivers only go up to Win 7 for that motherboard.
So you may have to go with the MS ones.
