Many Akd sellers on Trademe are from North Shore and Central City. real pain to meet them as i have experienced. Limited or distant parking... Maybe a "streetcar" (www.youtube.com) (YT vid from Portland, Oregon), and light rail and buses (www.youtube.com) (YT Vid of Portland Trimet (trimet.org/) Company) driven on the roads (and going to their shopping mall(s). That city seems well networked for transportation Similar in Auckland could help eavily reduce traffic. What we need, as what they once had - Trams i think on Queen Street about 100 years ago. |

Quite right, then we can also relearn the joys of the sound of a late night tram grinding up a hill, the road blockages, the mess at intersections, the difficulty of going around road works, (or road doesn't work perhaps) but best of all is the hilarious spectacle of cyclists doing gymnastics and aerial routines as they misjudge the tracks, or attempt braking on a bit of wet track . ;) They were damn fool things then, they still have many of the "features" that saw them pitched out . |

If it weren't for the stupid politicians, trams and trains would be the answer to a lot of your problems. Mind you, we have our traffic problems here in Hawkes Bay. The traffic on a 1Ksection of the expressway between Napier and Hastings was slow this morning. We had to slow down to 85K.... really annoying. Tough here in the provinces I tell you.. Ken |

Ken Tough problems you have to handle there . ;) Remember, the trams only had to compete with Lucas disabled cars, so it wasn't much of a contest . Small boys with bits of waterpipe could cause the odd excursion of trams toward the kerb on turn-arounds if the tram jockey was going a bit brisk on the sharp curve . . . . . And you just try and get a tram onto the vehicular ferry . . . |

| 1418745 | 2016-04-07 19:29:00 | Currently with the roadworks going on outside my work, it takes me just as long to drive the 16Km to work as it does to cycle it using the off road cycleway which means I miss the roadworks. | gary67 (56) | ||

Haven't been near town in ages. Can't think of a reason to go there. As for traffic, the worst is the slow crawl, and long periods of parking on the motorways. |

| 1418747 | 2016-04-07 21:22:00 | There is a tram service in Auckland but the AKL City politicians infighting has stopped it from going anywhere. I believe it is closed again until the end of 2017 because the council in wasting millions on doing unnecessary roadwork down where it runs.. A modern LRV system is still a dream in the sky as the bus operators will vigorously will appose it as they did in the Goldcoast. Fortunately the politicians in the GC still went ahead with it and when it opened it replaced about 50 bus routes and services and now the locals are saying "Why did we have to wait so long for this"? | paulw (1826) | ||
