2007-12-28 05:44:00 | I have A Best Data Fax Modem (HCF 56k modem). It is dialling out even though the phone line is in use. I thought it was supposed to check for a dial tone first. | JaceKiwi (2561) | |
2007-12-28 06:29:00 | Dialing out - as in: 1) To the Internet OR 2) Readies itself into fax mode? If it is 1), then the modem may have been accidentally configured to ignore "listen for dial tone first" before dialing to the respective ISP. In this case, it might help trying to fiddle around the settings of the modem (In XP, it is under Network Connections). Cheers :)

2007-12-29 20:40:00 | Wheres the fax?? Is it a standalone fax, or a program youre using (If you are, what program), with the fax modem?? If its a program, it may need configuring.

2007-12-31 05:19:00 | Delete the fax printer then. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2008-01-01 07:28:00 | Then how am I suposed to send the fax's then? You're too fast for your thinking. | JaceKiwi (2561) | |
2008-01-01 07:45:00 | The built in fax that windows has is not exactly the most reliable, it often wants to "take Over" or not work at all. I have installed Mighty Fax (www.rkssoftware.com) Win XP Pro roughly 8 months ago - it works good. Free trial for 30 days so nothing to lose in trying it should you wish to. I have broadband, but also a 56K modem installed, the phone lines connected to the modem and the fax uses that same line , if I'm on the phone the person sending the fax simply gets an engaged signal.
