| 624945 | 2007-12-27 08:46:00 | Hoping to get Broadband (Xnet) in next few days, but my line filter has two sockets, one named phone (I think it is a RJ45), and the other named ADSL, which is a smaller socket. What is the name of the ADSL plug required? The router requires the same sized plug. All my tele cables have the larger plug at one end and the smaller at the other, is a cable with two of the smaller plugs commonly available? |

And the phone end (that plugs into the filter), is like the cable that goes into a phonejack And the other end of the phone cable plugs into the back of a phone. So, you can talk on the phone. if you've got a phone. And the other end of the adsl file goes to the phonejack. You may get them from DSE. I think I got one of mine from foodtown lol. |

| 624947 | 2007-12-27 10:36:00 | this cable should come with your modem or router... | panther2 (11440) | ||
| 624948 | 2007-12-27 10:57:00 | ADSL socket is RJ11; the necessary cable will come with the modem as Panther2 said. | feersumendjinn (64) | ||

The filter/splitters with two sockets, one labeled phone, which will take the normal, white BT telephone plug and one labeled ADSL, which will take an RJ11 plug. These are usually clear plastic. If you are not needing to have a telephone on the same wall socket as the ADSL modem then you can plug the ADSL modem directly into the phone socket on the wall. Filters are only required on telephones, Sky Digital set-top-boxes, monitored house alarms, fax machines etc. Most ADSL modems come with both types of cables but not always. |

| 624950 | 2007-12-28 04:31:00 | Thanks guys, spent the day touring all of the computer type shops in Whangarei and with no luck, till I happened to go into Retravision, and there it was ! Now all we want is for Xnet to come to the party. Been over 2 weeks now, with several answers like, "we are very busy, call after 12 midday when the next shift comes on", phones ring for like half an hour, with crappy music playing. Hope it is going to be worth it, after all a survey here indicated Xnet to be the best. Not our findings so far - but hey It's Xmas. |

I could have dropped off one of those cables for nothing :D |

I could have dropped off one of those cables for nothing :D Thanks, not actually in Whangarei, Parua Bay, but hey thanks for thought. Not a significant cost anyway, 11 bucks for a 4 meter cable. Have a great new year to all readers. |
