Also i wanted to know if you could put songs thet are on the computer on it as well or if you need to get them off itunes. i have dialup(still) and wanted to know because i cant be bothered downloading itunes (51 MB) | nerd (109) | ||

| 624631 | 2007-12-26 04:35:00 | Often you can find Itunes on PC mazagine disks ... so it might pay to buy one. There are other programs that you can use to sync up with your ipod - such as WInamp and Mediamonkey. They are not supported by Apple and may not have as much features ( or more different features ). |

| 624633 | 2007-12-26 06:15:00 | No you dont have to use Itunes, just for MP3's. Winamp supports Ipods now. The latest version supports video and album art too. BUT if you want to sync contacts and the calendar in Outlook, then you'll need Itunes. or another program. You have to pay if you want songs from the Itunes store, but you can add your own as well. You just wont get album art. Unless you pay for them, or you scan them and then add them |

| 624636 | 2007-12-27 01:31:00 | Since you're on dial-up and don't want to download the (bloated) iTunes + Quicktime package, there's quite a few alternative options. A couple I can recommend are Floola (www.floola.com) (5MB, donationware) and Media Monkey (http://www.mediamonkey.com/) (6.5MB, freeware+). Floola is solely made to interface with your iPod whereas Media Monkey is more a media manager, and is quite a popular option because it does a great job at that. I'm guessing you scored a new iPod for Xmas so you'll probably need to go with Winamp (http://www.winamp.com/) (8MB, freeware+) which I'm more than certain supports the encrypted DB the newer models have. The other two you'll need to look into for this support. |
