624400 2007-12-25 04:41:00 It has taken over 30hrs to download 3.16 Gb from the WoW trial. Is this usual? Glenn Webster (7620)

624403 2007-12-25 07:58:00 @ 16 or 17 megs an hour MAX on dialup, I doubt it :) bevy121 (117)
624404 2007-12-25 09:09:00 Well if one takes the 15 seconds it took me to open the calculator and work it out, you will find that is an average speed of 30.68 KB/s :nerd: Therefore, one would deduct that Glen is not on dial up...

Glen, are you on Xtra's Go Large? if you are, then that would be about right... I get those sort of speeds via HTTP (web traffic) for international servers without a download manager.

624405 2007-12-25 09:17:00 It'll depend on WHERE you downloaded it from too.

The COH patch file I downloaded from an Oz server (1.8 GB), took less than 2 hrs.

I'm on Go Large and I get over 10 times that speed download

It's probably too many people playing on and downloading from the WoW servers

624407 2007-12-25 18:40:00 Thanks to all those who replied.
Not on dial-up,in fact on Inspire full speed/128 for 10GB plan.
Still seems a long time even allowing for servers running at max.

624408 2007-12-25 21:05:00 Suggest you try another server to obtain the file from. Perhaps Game Arena (www.gamearena.com.au), located in Aus, being less busy than other international download sites. Greg (193)
624409 2007-12-26 07:46:00 Doesnt surprise me.
My download speeds with Xtra tend to be good one day , terrible the next
In fact some days I just have to give up as I get little better than dial up speeds. It gets really bad after 7pm.
It could be caused by the ISP throttling the download or ISP not having enougth international bandwidth.
What happens with me is that the first 1M goes fast then after that the speed drops right back.

It would take me UP TO a week to get 3G down (Im on Xtra's Go Large)
