624968 2007-12-27 20:01:00 no sign of nVIDIA being/having a firewall Speedy

no bugcheck entries either

on startup this morning the same logon screen appeared, only half there so did the usual ctrl-alt-del, password screen appeared but a click somewhere bypassed it and windows opened

624969 2007-12-27 20:30:00 o-oh! - did a search for "firewall" and this entry was there

nv_common_firewall.dll -- program files\NVIDIA Corp\network access manager\bin

does this indicate NVIDIA is running a firewall?
jayal (1291)
624970 2007-12-27 22:52:00 Look in add/remove programs for Nvidia firewall. If its there uninstall it. Speedy Gonzales (78)
624971 2007-12-28 03:54:00 only two entries for NVIDIA

NVIDIA Drivers
&
NVIDIA Forceware Network Access manager

624972 2007-12-28 04:07:00 Well it looks like:

NVIDIA Forceware Network Access manager installs or includes a firewall.

Whatever it is.

624973 2007-12-28 05:53:00 I deleted that entry
restarted and no obvious problem/changes
that stupid logon screen is a pain, maybe a reinstall of XP will fix it?

624974 2007-12-28 07:16:00 Did u uninstall it or delete the folder??

There's a difference.
Speedy Gonzales (78)
624975 2007-12-28 07:38:00 uninstalled i think, from the control panel "add/remove"

still leaves "INVIDIA DRIVERS"

have an idea that's to do with the motherboard

what do you think?
jayal (1291)
624976 2007-12-28 07:44:00 Thats fine the drivers are for the videocard. Theyre not related to a firewall.

If its still playing up, I would format and reinstall. Just dont reinstall or enable Nvidia firewall.
