Can Windows XP be installed on Mac computers? Cheers From memory there is no BIOS setup to adjust first boot device. To install from CD/DVD, place media in drive. Then reboot and press Control+C (from memory, I know the exact key code is somewhere in this forum) There are no serial numbers to provide (for OS 9 anyway, may have changed in OS X but I doubt it). Other than that, its pretty similar to Windows As for the second part.. OS X I believe now comes with the app Boot Camp (as already mentioned) |

| 625771 | 2007-12-30 08:10:00 | 1. It's not similar in that you need an apple computer to get it done. Otherwise its pretty much the same except for having to put in a key/serial as mentioned earlier. What it does do is phone home and registers it against the details you enter on install (First name, last name, address etc.) Takes about the same time as Windows to install too. 2. As mentioned also earlier, the newer OS X comes with Boot Camp which is basically partitioning software that helps you create partitions to install other OS' such as Windows (XP or Vista) or Linux (which ever flavour). This however requires a reboot and change of OS. But like windows, you can use virtualisation software to run another 'guest' OS while using your primary one (OS X in this case). The usual apps used for this are Parallels (www.parallels.com/), VMware Fusion (http:) and VirtualBox (http://www.virtualbox.org/). |

It's straight forward process 2. You can install Window XP on Mac computers by using free program Boot Camp pre-install on Mac OS once you are running Mac OS X. Or you can spend a bit of money for software such as Parallels Desktop or VMWare Fusion. These software have a lot more features then Boot Camp and you don't need to restart your Mac require to run XP. You can see more here www.mactech.com www.vmware.com www.parallels.com |

| 625773 | 2007-12-30 11:25:00 | Hold the C key to boot off optical media (assuming it is the only internal optical drive). Hold the Option key at power up to see all devices you can boot off. Only the server version of OS X has a serial number. Watch the install options as you can end up installing a whole bunch of useless stuff such as printer drivers or language options. Boot Camp is included with Leopard and is no longer a beta. As an added bonus though Apple has removed it as a download. |
