hello. slingshot have a 29.95 plan which has 2gb of data and 2mb/s down and 128kb/s up. this should suffice for your needs. the constant going on about going back to better dialup speeds is really baffling. oh well, hope this helps

I thought Slingshot started with a $24.95 broadband plan?

625430 2008-01-02 15:54:00 Anyone out there on Slingshot Naked DSL? I'm looking at changing over to that since my phoneline and tolls are already with Slingshot. Is it open to all or new customers only?

I'm on the 39.95 broadband plan - maximum download but what are the maximum speeds suppose to be? According to their speedtest I received the following:

Download Speed: 2364 kbps (295.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 134 kbps (16.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: 122 ms

Working out how much you need isn't the easiest job in the world. You can figure out roughly how many emails you get and how many pages you view but there are things like OS upgrades, Anti virus downloads etc that all happen in the background.

200MB really is a taster package - very, very few people would cope on it. But for many people 1GB would be too low too. If my elderly mother was to go broadband then 1GB would be more than enough though.

We used to be on 4GB but upgraded to 5 when one of the kids moved home. Each month we are usually just within the limits at month end.

It takes a bit of research to see what you need. See what you are using at the moment on dialup and make a best guess. If you are wrong you can always upgrade.

Cellphone plans are another bit of guesswork. Due to changes in our lifestyle we are currently way out. Will change when the plans comes up for renewal this year - probably to pre pay. But that's life.

625433 2008-01-02 20:01:00 If that is true, and I do agree that a bigger picture does form, then a little tolerance and PF1 friendliness might have been a nice idea .

Those of us who have been around a while in this forum and its predecessors will recognise nrrrta under previous logon names, and shame on you all for your lack of tolerance for a person who does appear to have some personal problems but is otherwise totally inoffensive . We've had people many times worse than nrrrta .

Congratulations all, including mods, you gave somebody a real nice ending to his/her year .

Cheers

As for caps, I live comfortably within a 2Gig cap which gives three users here around 65MB a day to play with in total or 22MB each . We seem to do quite well on it, having lives and interests outside of computers and the internet .

So what would the former forum names have been?

625435 2008-01-03 04:24:00 So what would the former forum names have been?

I don't think it would be appropriate for me to provide a name up front, but I suspect that this is the person who provided the monitor test program that I used in my FAQ on monitors . You can take it from there if you are so inclined .

I think that was pack behaviour at its worst . (Almost) nobody here would have said those thing or acted that way if they were face to face with nrrrta and I can't believe that everybody was so insensitive that they couldn't see that the person was under abnormal strtess of some kind .

Say what you like, nobody seemed to remember Rule No . 1:

1) Keep it friendly: If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything .

And that is where I think the mods fell down, they are quick to pick up on some behaviours, but it appears that they are not too aware of human dynamics .

How much would it have cost us to be charitable to the person and just let the questions lapse unanswered .

Cheers

625436 2008-01-03 05:17:00 You suspect?

You acuse someone of having mental issues and everyone else of being...well...nasty....based on that weak crap?

Billy, You own the thread starter an apology, and the rest of the forum.

And I would hope you refrain from pulling such an ill-thought out stunt again, even if it is the person you suspect, You should have had the good grace to not make an issue out of it.

625437 2008-01-03 05:31:00 What makes you think they have been here under a different name? Is it just their writing style or something more definite? Greven (91)
