625419 2007-12-30 08:24:00 A new D-Link modem? Im not a fan of D-Link in any way, shape, or form...

Ring the Ihug tech support and explain your issue. They were most helpful when I last rang them a few months ago... worst case scenario you speak with a team leader who arranges a discount because you're not getting the speeds you were promised? I dunno, worth a shot :)

D-link is the type you get when you signup, but the power adapter crapped out so we brought a four port modem.

I will try ring them tomorrow. Thanks

hello. slingshot have a 29.95 plan which has 2gb of data and 2mb/s down and 128kb/s up. this should suffice for your needs. the constant going on about going back to better dialup speeds is really baffling. oh well, hope this helps

You forgot to mention the part where $10 is added to your bills if you don't subscribe to their toll calls. :P

Nrrrrta, from what I can see if you use up 200mb in 10 days, 1000mb should last you 50 days. Your cheapest option would be signing up with Xnet, no tolls required. 256k/128k with a 3GB for $30/month (you can get 2GB for $29 and 1GB for $28 but that's a bit silly).

625422 2007-12-31 05:45:00 Yeah I was wondering the same thing . However, when you read a lot of his/her other posts, a bigger picture starts to form

If that is true, and I do agree that a bigger picture does form, then a little tolerance and PF1 friendliness might have been a nice idea .

Those of us who have been around a while in this forum and its predecessors will recognise nrrrta under previous logon names, and shame on you all for your lack of tolerance for a person who does appear to have some personal problems but is otherwise totally inoffensive . We've had people many times worse than nrrrta .

Congratulations all, including mods, you gave somebody a real nice ending to his/her year .

Cheers

As for caps, I live comfortably within a 2Gig cap which gives three users here around 65MB a day to play with in total or 22MB each . We seem to do quite well on it, having lives and interests outside of computers and the internet .

So please tell us exactly what the mods did wrong? I think everyone tried to be very helpful with nrrta . I'm sure he will be back, as he probably has a few times before .

Oh please, lets play the guilt game . . . lets do what most in society do and try to place the blame on something else other than the persons own failings

The guy was a tard right from the start, easy pickings, but generally left alone
And yet we still get the blame coz he couldn't handle his own ignorance

You say we lack tolerance, au contraire my dear Watson . We sat around watching the dude make a complete pillock of himself and said nothing other than to try and help out .

IN your time here you probably have had people worse than nrrtwit . To me he rated such as Pedalslapper and various other tards we have had to perservere with over the last year or 2 .

Have a good New Year Billy, but don't try the guilt-**** trap on me, it just won't cut the mustard dude

625425 2007-12-31 09:52:00 I am with Xnet . . I am currently on dialup speed cos I have used up my GB and don't wanna pay more money and downloading via download accelerator its 8-10kb/sec . Surfing the web I notice it is slower than dialup 56k .

Recently I had the full speed one downstream but I only got 1 . 5-2 . 0 Mbit so I downgraded to 256k . As a result of my downloadings, its gone from 300kb/sec to 30kb/sec . I guess its not bad if one does not download that much or have patience . But anyhow, even with the 2 . 0Mbit, I only have like 3 or 4GB per month anyway I want to afford so I cannot really do any major continuous downloads .

Today is my last day on dialup speed, tomorrow 1st Jan I will be back on the 256k speed and have like 3GB to use . Had this for 2 days incl today and I have used almost 200MB .

I like Xnet, strictly they may not be the cheapest, but no contracts, no connection fee, no toll dialling contract to sign or min to spend . One can buy more GB on a ongoing basis and if you bought 10GB and only used 5GB they only charge you 5 and not the 10 .
