| 625400 | 2007-12-29 19:53:00 | No Chilling_Silence you are wrong or to put another way they are right with their intenet useage I am right with what I have said I am the one that get a email a week after my new month starts to say 75% of my cap is used up and another email a couple of days after that to tell me my 100% cap is used up and suggest to me to step up on the next plan And I dont like your abusive personnel email telling me I am spamming this thread when they start it and to be honest this thread just shows how ignorant other members here can be, and if that is there choice to hand me crap all the time I dont wish to have any part of this forum again, I am sorry I made the mistake in purchasing NZ PC WORLD, I am sorry Chris I lost my cool but these people dont know when to stop, I hope you think about the web site email I sent you, it might well be worth writing a editorial in a upcoming issue that people on 200 mg can live on that plan for 10 days by just collecting about a dozen emails a week & visiting a few web site, that are not loaded with pictures. This finishes my posting here I am so upset I dont wish to have anything more with this forum or the NZ PC world magazine. nrrrta, I hate to break it to ya, but they're right... Lets clear things up: 8 kilobytes = 64 kilobits per second (8 bits in a byte), so when you say that you're being slowed down to 8 and not 64... you're actually RIGHT ON what they advertised. Now, I use Woosh a little bit when on the road. Yeah, the calling seems fine, no, YouTube on Woosh sucks majorly, and no, its never going to be the same sort of experience when using an ADSL connection due to the additional latency of being wireless etc. So, you've used up 200MB in 10 days? Guess what? Without downloading Movies or OpenOffice, my family is easily able to go through 2-3GB some days (Most days we average between 150 -> 600MB though). You having 200MB last 10 days is pretty good IMO! Thats 20MB a day! Thats NOTHING mate, really... So, Dial-Up, is the speed thing real or all in your head? Probably a combination of both... its not really as bad as you make it out to be in comparison to Dial-Up. Do you need a bigger plan if you've gone over 200MB in just 10 days? YES! Absolutely! If you're on one of the "cheap" student plans that Woosh have, or the deals where you sign up during a certain date and get the whole thing for something like $34.95, then thats great.. but if you're not willing to pay the extra for more data, then you realistically have no right to complain coz you're getting exactly what you pay for. Its like buying a cheap $10 pair of shoes from the Warehouse then complaining because they only last for 6 months compared with the $100 Nike's you used to buy which would last a whole year... You have no leg to stand on there... |

| 625404 | 2007-12-29 22:21:00 | A quick check of the Consumer mag website shows - Kiwilink 200MB (www.consumer.org.nz) = $25 - WorldXChange/Xnet Stream 1GB (www.consumer.org.nz) = $28 - GetRheel/Residential Basic (www.consumer.org.nz) 1GB = $30 - ICONZ/ADSL 1 (www.consumer.org.nz) 1GB = $30 All these have download speeds capped at 256Kbps There are a few more at $30, some more at $40, some at $50... For 1GB and unconstrained speeds costs increase all the way up to $78 It sounds like Kiwilink have slower dial up speeds than some of the others so if you are unhappy with them why not try a different provider? There are a lot to choose from for very little extra cost. |

| 625405 | 2007-12-29 22:24:00 | My mother and sister were on a 1gig plan until recently. They're the furthest from power users you can imagine, and they had to increase it to 4gig. If you want fast speeds get a faster plan, if not, then deal with low internet speeds. That's really the only choice you have, unless you want another phone line, then you can have 56k and phone. 200MB is pathetic... it really is. | Thebananamonkey (7741) | ||
| 625406 | 2007-12-29 22:35:00 | OMG . . . does this guy have some sort of disfunction? PressF1 is quite possibly the most helpful forum (actually, IS the most helpful) I've ever been to . So many solutions, does he actually read the responses? Or does he just look for fodder to start issues with? Also . . . am I one dickhead or a real big dickhead? Who the hell says this? LOL . . . I guess some people can't be/don't want to be helped . |
