625905 2007-12-30 18:52:00 If you have a motherboard with 4 RAM slots, and you only had 2 RAM modules;
it is my understanding that you use slots 1 and 3. Is this correct?
Incidentally, could you use slot 2 and 4 instead? Or is 1 & 3 preferential?

625906 2007-12-30 19:00:00 There is no cut and dried rule. On some motherboards you use slots 1 and 2 for just two sticks of RAM.

It is best to check the motherboard's manual.

Most boards I have seen lately are colour coded.

You have two sticks of RAM. Put each stick in the same colour slot.

Some use 1 + 3 and others use 2 + 4 also 1 + 2

I take it that you want the RAM to use dual channel mode.

Having never dealt with Dual channel before I figured I would ask around
