625379 2007-12-28 08:45:00 Without mentioning names, about six months ago I went Broadband, I have to ask. am I one dickhead or a real big dickhead?

The deal is a 200meg at broadband then when that is used up I go to dial up speed, I thought that seems OK for $25 a month, WRONG their dial up speed is a lot slower than my dial up speed I was thinking like 56K, when my limit is used up it sometimes (not very often) looks like 56K but most other times more like 8K. Sometimes on dial up Telecon would give non Telecon customers a slow modem connection and when I had a look it was going at 4.4K baud rate, I found it was quicker to log off and back on again and most times would pick a faster modem. Going from page to page at this web site on “their” (my current ISP) (dial up) speed is one long wait. The 200meg cap only takes about 10 days to use up (when I am not downloading OpenOffice)

But one thing is for sure when my brpadbamd contract is up, this idiot is going back to slow band 56K dial up (or about 50K as I most often used to see) I can not wait for a $10 unlimited internet access at a much faster rate, I have never been so frustrated these holidays.
It reminds me when I only had 8 meg of ram in my old 486, windows 95 and the computer used to cache to the hard drive as I when to a new web site, all the time in-between the “blue screens of death” oh man those were the good old days (long before 9/11 at New York), going over 16 Meg of ram got rid of most of the “blue screens of death” then when I when over the 120meg limit of ram on Windows 98 the hard drive went silent. There is no excuses here I have one Gig of ram, Windows XP.

625381 2007-12-28 08:56:00 As you have not mentioned the ISP and asked if you are are a dickhead or a real big dickhead I do not know.

I would help if I could.

Is this Telecom or Telecon?

625382 2007-12-28 09:16:00 My older ISP was Clear, Man I miss Clear dial up speed (when I have used my 200meg limit) it takes all day to do nothing now. nrrrta (11415)
625383 2007-12-28 20:08:00 I've just joined up with Xnet for $27 a month and $1 a Gig data, 200meg=20 cents.
You can set a limit yourself, but I haven't!
That's their cheapest plan. And no $10 extra for tolls,no contract so can cancel any time. But you have to buy your own router and filters.

625384 2007-12-28 20:17:00 I went Broadband

The deal is a 200meg at broadband

Thats your problem. Increase it - 200mb would last 5 minutes, its a con that sounds good, in practice as you have found out, its pointless.

The aim of the exercise was to be able to use the phone & internet at the same time

The 200meg cap only takes about 10 days to use up.

Yes, you can do that with all ADSL based broadband that i not naked DSL. However you signed up to

(a) The wrong plan
(b) The wrong company to suit your needs.

So? You wanted to use the internet, well with 200mb data that gives you about 5 minutes.

Should have gone with a decent plan.

625388 2007-12-29 03:01:00 I can not recall ever seeing a 200MB plan anywhere. Also I doubt dropping back to dialup speed would affect yr ability to use the phone and net at the same time. The speed of yr connection varies a lot depending on,where you are and all sorts of other variables. kjaada (253)
