| 626989 | 2008-01-03 08:53:00 | Win 98 SE Master 11 borrowed speakers...I've plugged them back in but they won't turn on. Is there something else I need to do or are they stuffed? Thanks Wendy |

No light = no power to drive the amplifier inside the speaker with the light & off/on switch on it. Either faulty plug/mains cable. Faulty off/on switch cum volume control. Blown fuse/power supply on PCB inside speaker. You can test the speakers by opening one of them(preferably the one with the mains power cord to it-make sure it not plugged into the AC mains)& look at the back of the speaker where you'll see two wires that connect to a small Printed circuit board. Get a length of wire, speaker wire is best, & an AA orAAA battery or such. hook up one end of your double strand piece of wire one to each of the tabs on back of speaker. They only have to catch there. Then put the other ends of the wire to opposite ends of the battery. If speaker makes a buzzzzzzz then they are working You WON'T get a shock!!! Sounds to me more likely one of the other three things I mentioned. |
