626881 2008-01-03 00:47:00 It seems that Spybot S&D is really slowing down a lot . . the graphics take forever to disappear after you click on the exit after the updates and even loading the program from the shortcut is getting slower and slower .

I can understand that it's getting a little topheavy, but I think it's getting pretty ridiculous now .

Anyone else see this too?

The new style Immunizer is kewl . . but is it just me or is there something wrong now?

I just killed the startup of ctfmon . exe . . hopefully it is the problem and not Spybot .

Realistically, do I need all those WinLogon (current system) entries starting up too?

I agree.Wondering if it's needed, only finds cookies and takes hours to open.:waughh:

626883 2008-01-03 01:27:00 Yup, I installed 1.5 something, it took 2-3 mins to open and longer to do anything else.

In the end I killed it.

626884 2008-01-03 01:44:00 Well the one I'm running right now is the slowest of the lot.
Its been scanning since mid morning.

But the poor thing is struggling on an XP system with a 400mhz CPU and 120MB of RAM.

And it sure does find more than cookies. I've run HJT on it, then SPyware Doctor which found 283 infections from 16 Malwares, and spybots just found some more.

Yeah . . . it's 6:30PM, Wednesday here . . . . .

I think I'll stick it out for a while . . there was a time when SB got messed up . . the GUIs and such were all over the place . . . and they fixed it .

Maybe the new owner(s) will see the error of their way(s) and fix it again .

626886 2008-01-03 03:54:00 Spybot runs ok here. Starts up and downloads updates without much time lag. The scan itself is slow but it always has been - maybe takes 10 - 15 minutes. Its been a long time since it has found anything worse than a cookie but that may be because of other preventive measures rather than Spybot not being up to the mark. Adaware also does not find any nasties. AVG and Spyware Doctor did find a few (inactive) trojans when I first ran them but perhaps they were false positives to make like the program was worthwhile.

I think there was a similar thread here a few months ago, with a link to a patch that stopped Spybot being so slow, or maybe it was some other program?

626888 2008-01-03 05:26:00 spybot 1.4 is good. Spybot 1.5 is quite slow. Greven (91)

Maybe the new owner(s) will see the error of their way(s) and fix it again.

What new owner? Same one according to his website.
