| 626749 | 2008-01-02 21:51:00 | I used Vista with a dial-up with no problems. When you use dialup you have to use Windows mail 6.0 to access the POP-3 that dialup requires. I converted to DSL (after a major virus induced crash, see earlier post, Lenovo) and that was when my problems began. I had backed up my e-mails .DBX files before the crash. After I reloaded Vista I imported my .DBX files to Windows mail 6.0. In Windows mail the e-mail messes get changed to .EML. My new ISP requires that I use Windows live. Windows live cannot read .EML files or the old Windows Mail.. Of course I do a copy/paste on the text. There are funny files that I cant copy/paste. Again, if they are .JPEG, I can send them with Windows Live as an attachment but there are other formats. I was told to change the .EML extension to .MHT. Live still will not read them. My question is: How the heck do I import my .DBX files directly into Windows Live IE-7?. Vista has a great search engine and I can search my old e-mail, I just cant forward it as a E-Mail. If I try it makes me assign a POP-3 server which is unknown to me and not used for DSL anyway.. I can see why people lose their cool running Vista and dig in the bone yard for XP. Is this one of those sell it and let the customers test it, or what? Darroll OH: I DO NOT work for MS but I like the Vista OS. |

| 626750 | 2008-01-04 21:28:00 | I finally figured out how to run old e-mail files in Vista Live. Copy the .eml e-mail to documents. Open with Word 2007. Then save it as a Word.doc. (Use Old Word 97 and 2003 option, so others can open the file without Word 2007.) Then send it as an attachment. Bingo.. Darroll |
