626649 2008-01-02 08:19:00 Seasons greetings to all.

Is there anyone on the list who has an Acer Aspire 5512 (or anything in the 5510 range) who still has a copy of the "Just for Starters..." poster / booklet ? If so can you please tell me if there is actual useful information on it for a 'notebook neophyte' or is it just Acer blah blah?

I got a new one of these today (yes, old stock, end of line, but wanted to stick with XP) and it didn't have this booklet. I want to know if its worth chasing one up. The User's Guide is pretty hopeless and I need all the help I can get.

Many thanks.

626651 2008-01-03 04:37:00 Nothing wrong with Acer laptops.
I've got two myself and never had a problem.

The "Just for Startes" booklet is basically just an illustration on how to connect the power, install the battery and turn it on.

If your laptop has Vista Business or Ultimate on it then you are legally allowed to install Windows XP Pro if you have access to a copy of it.
You will just need to check the Acer website to see if there are XP drivers available for your model.

The sort of thing commonly found in Acers.
I know, I've had tons of them in for repair.
