626165 2007-12-31 21:14:00 That error (DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL) as it says is usually a driver issue.

Can you try restarting the PC in Safe Mode, keep pressing F8 on startup, select safe Mode and see if it boots into safe mode.

If it does, click start/run type in eventvwr hopefully there will be an error message saying what caused the problem.

You can also try running the restore back to yesterday from safe mode, or when starting try " last known good Configuration".

Timerstop appears to be the problem - Here (www.runscanner.net) is what it does.

Note: Is this system XP or Vista ?

I feel awkward asking this - but is it a legit OS / License as well. The reason for asking is lots of answers on google for timerstop.sys point to cracked activations in Vista.

626166 2007-12-31 21:25:00 I would say its Vista, XP doesnt have that file.

I would say it is cracked and thats why this isnt working (pressf1.co.nz)

626168 2007-12-31 22:47:00 thanks for the reply, it is vista, if you could read this www.pressf1.co.nz
then you will know the whole story.

thank you so much, will do what wainuitech suggested to do. and by the way it does boot into safe mode.

to be honest I did put a "time stopper" on it, but i have no intention of cracking it, i just need to get more time before i get the real product key from the doggy seller who sold my dad this laptop.

thanks so much. cheers.

Did MS offer you any fix when you rang them?

Usually if you have been sold a dodgy key they offer to "Put it right", might charge - but then if the Seller on trade me is selling dodgy stuff, you will have a come back.

Did MS confirm the COA on the back you mentioned is Legit?

when he receive the laptop it did came with vista ultimate preinstalled, with a product key containing "OEM" and right next to the product key shows the icon of "genuine" which tell me that the thing is real.

626171 2007-12-31 23:14:00 I have to go out - but try uninstalling the timerstop you put in.

Back later to check

626172 2008-01-01 00:04:00 thanks wainuitech .

the problem is I don't know how to do so . . :dogeye:

the timestopper is a rar file, i extracted it and it is a execution file, i double clicked on it, "nothing happened", about 5 seconds later it said that the timestopper has been installed and will restart the windows .

nothing shows on the screen during anytime of the 3 second period . :badpc:

do you think i am better off formatting the HD and reinstall the system again? dad has all his file backed up in 3 different media . . . :p
or is it better to just do a system restore?

thanks in advance .

626173 2008-01-01 00:10:00 Did u scan these cracks before you ran them??

To see if any of them had trojans/viruses?

Only other thing u can do is reformat it
