626724 2008-01-18 23:01:00 The TV card is a leadtek, They have sold in the billions, so its bound to be supported, But the question was more along the lines of how or where do I configure my hardware, In general.

That aside, I installed TV time, It claims no signal, which is no surprise as I haven't plugged in the aerial, I'll put that on the back burner until I put the PC back in the home theater.

Definitely no link to the torrent client within the applications menu, Been over it with a fine tooth comb. Its a pretty small list compared to other Linux installs I have played with (this is a good thing)

Just found a hardware tab....

626726 2008-01-19 05:12:00 I gotta admit, I cannot find a torrent client I like as much as uTorrent

Hit Alt + F2 and type in "gnome-btdownload" (Without the speech marks, and all in lower-case). No idea why there's no link to it, didnt even know I had it until about 30 seconds ago when I read your post. I use the WebUI for uTorrent and have the Family PC download all my stuff :D

So, about those model details for the Sound Card & TV Tuner? ;)

626727 2008-01-20 11:13:00 Righto, Poo hit the fan.

Well, Sort of, I got her all set up (to a point) and then hooked it all into the home theater, It didn't recognise the projector for what it is, and tried to send a signal through at a refresh rate it couldn't handle, and the result is no picture. A pity, as the refresh rate was set to a compatible level prior to plugging in the projector.

When I can be arsed I'll find out how to boot her into the ubunti safe graphical mode, and see if I can manually set and lock the refresh rate.

Perhaps you should try a dedicated HTPC distro:eg Myth (a few 'flavours available)

How easy is TV out to config in Lin??
You will need to set the TV out resolution to match whatever type of TV you have.
Ive found that when I tried Lin, even my rather old TV cards worked without
any real setup. Most use the same Chipsets so unless its a really old
ISA TV card....... :badpc:

There are a few Lin media players will run straight off a CD, very little
config needed. It may be worth trying one of these: eg GeexBox

626729 2008-01-21 01:28:00 There is no TV out, Nor any TV.

And, I think at this stage I'll stick with teh Distro I started on, Untill such time that it proves to be not upto the job.

626730 2008-01-21 09:27:00 When its booted, try pressing Ctrl + Alt + the + on the numpad... it should adjust your screen resolution giving you a 'virtual' desktop thats larger, and a viewing size thats smaller.. Allowing you to change back the setting :) Chilling_Silence (9)
626731 2008-01-21 09:28:00 All sorted, TV card works, audio is crankin, All media plays, can view all my crap on my Windows Drive. Need to see what CD/DVD burning tools are available, and try a few Video editing apps. Metla (12)
626732 2008-01-21 09:54:00 Use k3b for DVD/CD burning. It's brilliant :D

You'll be disappointed with the poor selection of video editing tools though - as I said earlier:
...but note that at present there are no decent video editors that don't suck in at least some aspects.

Glad you have all the rest up & running though - how did you find it?
