626891 2008-01-03 22:48:00 What new owner? Same one according to his website.

I believe that Patrick Kolla turned the whole thing over to a different bunch of geeks. He was running full-tilt trying to keep it current..had taken on a bunch of writers and such...so maybe I just put 2 and 2 together and got 5....

He still has some control I also believe, but I smell a different corporate odor to it now. Hopefully not though. :dogeye:

Got a question though....

I have XP-P and I do believe that I see that AVG is incorporated into my report from Window's security settings/dialog..so is this new update for SB gonna get in there too in XP or not. I know it SAYS no...but if AVG is there, why not then also SB?

ibid: Vista Security Center
The Windows Security Center included with Windows Vista has a dedicated entry for malware protection software.

Microsoft ships Windows Defender with Vista, however, Spybot-S&D can now easily integrate into the Vista Security Center; which will then monitor if Spybot-S&D is up-to-date and whether the permanent protection (TeaTimer) is running or not.

This update will only show on Vista systems, since previous Windows versions do not offer anti malware integration into WSC.

626892 2008-01-04 00:12:00 Mine is very slow. I usually walk away and do lots of other things while it is loading and then running.
Glad to know it's not just me.

I spose SB's programmers could make a version of SB, so WSC will recognise it in XP.

Comodo's programmers did, (in earlier versions of Comodo, WSC didnt know it existed either, until the later versions came out).

So why cant the SB programmers do it?

Altho, I dont think anti-malware programs are as important (or do as much, and probably dont get updated as much) as AV or firewall programs.

I knew there was a patch somewhere. Too lazy to do a PF1 search but I think it was posted here a few months ago.

Here is the direct link, from the PCQANDA forum:

www.safer-networking.org

Unzip it to the Spybot folder, it will replace two existing files. then reboot.
