| 626235 | 2008-02-06 05:58:00 | Hi Johnd I have also dual boot install XP with PCLOS as I would like to switch over to tha later. Would anyone of you be able to direct me how I can get all my Outlook data over to PCLOS(Evolution or similar). Is there also a local(NZ) Pclos group? Thanks NTThe easiest way to do this is to install Mozilla Thunderbird on the Windows machine and use it to import the Outlook data. Then copy the data from Thunderbird to the Linux machine. Depending upon your preference you can then import this into Thunderbird (Linux vers) or Evolution. More detailed instructions can be found here (www.cyberciti.biz). I doubt there would be a PCLOS specific user group in NZ, but there are plenty of Linux user groups (LUG) around. What area are you from? |

| 626239 | 2008-02-06 07:50:00 | I am living in the Nelson areaThere doesn't appear to be a LUG in Nelson, so you may wish to join the Wellington LUG (www.wellylug.org.nz/) mailing list or get involved with the PCLinuxOS (http:) support forum. The later will obviously be familiar with how PCLinuxOS is set up and would probably give you more specific support for that distro. | Jen (38) | ||

Thanks Jen I have been very busy in the PCLOS forum lately(especially reg. outlook) If I can get that(moving data to evolution) all sorted I am confident that Linux is going to be my next OS NT |

| 626241 | 2008-02-06 08:44:00 | notechyet, Jen mentioned that there doesn't appear to be a Linux Users Group in Nelson. However, there are two (at least) PCLinuxOS users there. No doubt one of them will reply to your post. The other hasn't appeared on many forums lately as I gather he is a bit busy with his craft business. It was that latter one who put me on to PCLinuxOS after I had used Xandros for a couple of years. Now, I dual boot between PCLinuxOS and Klikit (a Kubuntu derivative) Jim (not in Nelson - although I used to be Head of Mathematics at Nayland College from 1974 to 1978) You will find me on both of those forums under username jimwilk |
