627891 2008-01-06 20:17:00 I am currently using Nova pdf lite a free pdf creator, but it does not allow me to lock the documents to stop others from editing them.

Is there another freebie pdf creator that has this function

Thanks

P.S tried searching PF1 with no luck

627892 2008-01-06 20:25:00 Does open office allow you to do this? I'm not sure - someone esle will have a solid suggestion. :) wratterus (105)
627893 2008-01-06 20:53:00 I take it you created the PDF file??

You'll need something like Adobe Reader Pro or Nitro PDF Pro.

Theyre not free though.

Openoffice and Word 2007 saves docs as PDF, with the PDF addon.

BUT, I dont know if OO lets you protect them, but it doesnt look like Office 2007 does.

627894 2008-01-06 21:21:00 I have an extension running in Firefox that allows me to do those things...read, write and lock...although I don't use all the features.

You can use a secure password too if you like...but I haven't gone that far either.

I DO know that Firefox PDF device is legally acceptable and secure evidence in the eyes of the law here in the US.

627896 2008-01-07 06:25:00 I use PDFCreator (sourceforge.net), which allows you to set passwords when you create the PDF file. davehartley (3487)
627897 2008-01-07 07:08:00 OpenOffice allows you to set a password and control the permissions for editing. You don't get this option if you use the icon on the toolbar but you do if you go File->Export as PDF johnd (85)
627898 2008-01-08 04:19:00 Hi all
thanks for the info I have gone with bullzip as it seems to be the easiest to use.

627899 2008-01-08 17:43:00 I thought the whole point of a PDF was that it was auto lock?

Otherwise what IS point?

627900 2008-01-08 21:03:00 Hi C. This is a break-down of what each of Adobe Acrobat's versions allow or disallow.... Most other programmes are copies/versions of similar.
