Openoffice and Word 2007 saves docs as PDF, with the PDF addon. BUT, I dont know if OO lets you protect them, but it doesnt look like Office 2007 does. |

| 627894 | 2008-01-06 21:21:00 | I have an extension running in Firefox that allows me to do those things...read, write and lock...although I don't use all the features. You can use a secure password too if you like...but I haven't gone that far either. I DO know that Firefox PDF device is legally acceptable and secure evidence in the eyes of the law here in the US. |

| 627896 | 2008-01-07 06:25:00 | I use PDFCreator (sourceforge.net), which allows you to set passwords when you create the PDF file. | davehartley (3487) | ||
| 627897 | 2008-01-07 07:08:00 | OpenOffice allows you to set a password and control the permissions for editing. You don't get this option if you use the icon on the toolbar but you do if you go File->Export as PDF | johnd (85) | ||
