| 628318 | 2008-01-08 00:46:00 | Ok I'm trying to place a shortcut to a web page on the desktop of a specific group of domain users. Now I have had success with placing shortcuts for network folders on their desktops but for some reason it doesn't work with the webpage shortcut? We use bat files for our login scripts and they look something like this net use g: \\ntservr1\Develop net use u: \\ntservr1\common net use v: \\ntservr1\general net use y: \\ntservr1\ora_runtimes xcopy \\ntservr1\common\Shift_Managers\"Actual Overtime and Forecast.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" /d /y xcopy \\ntservr1\common\Shift_Managers\"Police QVR List.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" /d /y xcopy \\ntservr1\common\Shift_Managers\"Shift Controllers Checksheet.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" /d /y xcopy \\ntservr1\common\Shift_Managers\"Terminal Supervison Report.lnk" "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" /d /y xcopy \\ntservr1\common\Shift_Managers\Datasquirt.lnk "C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Desktop" /d /y common.bat Now the only line which doesn't execute correctly is the 1 in bold, which is supposed to create a desktop shortcut to a web page. Anyone have an idea as to what could be wrong. cheers |

I'm not really keen on messing with group policy as yet, but I may go that way if there's no other way to get this to work. Cheers |

| 628325 | 2008-01-09 20:17:00 | What does the error say, if there's an error? Don't get any error messages at all. Tried the quotes thing but that didn't work either. STUMPED!!! |

| 628327 | 2008-01-10 05:30:00 | it says cannot find file Datasquirt. Bit I have checked it is definitely there as other manual shortcuts placed on other user desktops point to the same file and they work fine. | chiefnz (545) | ||
