628514 2008-01-09 03:40:00 Thats the total FPS made up from all Toms Hardware vga benchmarks. CaptainVincent (76)
628515 2008-01-09 03:41:00 7950GT is only 1465.2 and thats the 512MB version CaptainVincent (76)
628516 2008-01-09 03:42:00 Thats because 7950GT has a faster clock speed +30Mhz but a much slower memory speed -100Mhz CaptainVincent (76)
628517 2008-01-09 03:46:00 Just get the 7900GT mejobloggs (264)
628518 2008-01-09 05:20:00 I could get a 8600GTS for same price. I understand they are slower in previous gen games (F.E.A.R., Oblivion) and for some reason have a real real **** 3d mark 06 score but are for some reason faster in crysis. CaptainVincent (76)
628519 2008-01-09 05:34:00 7900GS is highly overclockable. I used to have one and I overclocked it to be approximately 10% better than a stock 7900GT. On stock voltage and cooling. qazwsxokmijn (102)
628520 2008-01-09 07:12:00 Just gotta remember that the lack of DX10 support on the 7XXX series cards will come back and bite you sooner than you'd expect. ;)

Personally I'm not really a fan of the 8600GT however your options are quite limited at the moment. There's also the 2600XT however as you know ATI will be/are releasing the 3XXX series right now so you'd be buying "old" technology.

*Edit*

There's also rumours floating around that the 9000 series will be released in early to mid 08.

628521 2008-01-09 07:58:00 But surely if it's redundant within the next year then you want to shell out a little bit more now and save yourself the hassle later. Why buy 2 cards? You're not going to sell yourself any money. But you're right about vista. It's pretty, but I hates it. Getting anything done in it is like surgery with boxing gloves. Thebananamonkey (7741)
628522 2008-01-09 19:07:00 Not having DX10 support isn't going to bite you any time soon. Imo DX10 is pretty much pointless for now mejobloggs (264)
