| 629576 | 2008-01-12 00:54:00 | Using XP with directx 9.0c. I've been trying out Skype high quality video, with mixed results. Skype forum chat suggests updating directx, presumably this means to the latest "runtime" files. I have tried doing this, using the directx redist software off the PCWorld DVD. Something appears to happen when I run dxsetup.exe, but afterwards dxdiag shows the same version, and dxdiag.txt has the same directx files, dating from 2001 - 2004. Should I expect to see newer files? And does it all matter anyway? |

All the files for various releases are on the DVD though. There must be a way of using them. The setup file on the DVD just seems to replace whatever is already installed. |

If you have DirectX 6.0 or higher you will need to run dxdiag.exe This website has a number of tips on how to re-install DirectX from a CD/DVD: www.computerhope.com |
