629241 2008-01-10 19:47:00 I've just set up a 2nd PC at work and am routing both it and my notebook via a KVM switch, so both use my 24-inch LCD.

The problem is that my notebook can no longer detect that it's plugged into the 24-inch LCD - it detects just a bog standard monitor (presumably what the KVM is reported as) and will only let me set 1024 x 768 resolution, instead of the 1920 x 1200 it should be.

Is there anyway around this issue? The 2nd PC isn't an problem because it has a Radeon 9800 Pro card in it and the driver lets me "force" a resolution, but the crappy Intel video in the notebook doesn't give me this option.

629243 2008-01-10 23:38:00 Nope - no go. It doesn't treat the monitor via the switch as being the same as the monitor direct. I plug it in direct and it does the correct res - swap back to via switch and I'm back at low res with no option to go higher. I can even manually set up the monitor via advanced settings as the correct monitor with the correct driver but it refuses to give me a res option better than 1024 x 768. It's the bloody intel graphics chipset getting in between and not giving me options beyond that or an option to force a res of my choosing. Biggles (121)
629244 2008-01-11 00:01:00 Doh! I'm an idiot. I can just run two seperate video cables from the LCD screen - one to each PC - and simply toggle between video inputs, using the KVM switch just for the mouse and keyboard. Biggles (121)
