2008-01-10 04:05:00 | Bought a nice new 2nd hand mobo off TMe, new case psu and video card.Put it all together, using old hdd with XP sp2 from another machine, and after changing some BIOS settings (using online manual for this mobo ) I get the following message that I cannot get rid of... Message confirmation The system intruded, chassis open or tempered before. Please check system. (sic) Could this mean I have connected something wrong on the board, an Asus p4s 133, ? I swear I've checked all the connections 2x or 3x. Mobo came with cpu and one stick of ram 512, I've added 512 more and bios has recognized it. Just want to get to boot screen !!! thanks in advance. | 629045 | 2008-01-10 04:07:00 | That usually means theres an intrusion jumper on the mobo somewhere, and its enabled. And by opening the case. It alerts the user. Find the jumper on the mobo and disable it / move it to the other set of pins. Look at the manual and see where the case intrusion or similar jumper is. See what the jumpers are on the mobo to disable it. There's nothing wrong with the system itself.

2008-01-10 04:51:00 | Errr is there anything on the hdd to boot into? You didnt take the CMOS jumper as well did u?? And forget to put it back? And make sure the ATX 12v connector is connected to the mobo.

2008-01-10 04:56:00 | no didn't touch any other jumpers. As i now get a boot screen I'm assuming that I've installed the jumper correctly. I get a screen that shows "safe mode" safe mode with networking safe mode with command prompt last known good con fig start win normally countdown gets to zero and hangs. Hdd has xp installed, not used for about 6 months..completely new system, old hdd

2008-01-10 05:11:00 | Thats why its hanging. Its expecting to find the original mobo/hardware, which isnt there. Because of this, from your 1st post. Using old hdd with XP sp2 from another machine You'll have to do a repair or reinstall XP.

2008-01-10 05:34:00 | I figured as much...doing a reinstall as we speak. Don't remember what I had on that disc...hopefully not much !! Apart from the jumper issue, which I'm sure wouldn't have occured had this been a new mobo, building a new system from the ground up is surprisingly easy. I'll never go back to an off the shelf system now. I would've installed ubuntu but I need xp to run some specific software. Have to love this community at F1, every time I have an issue I only have to wait a few minutes and someone takes the time to reply and I learn so much . Thanks again.

2008-01-10 20:13:00 | The system intruded, chassis open or tempered before . Please check system . That can also be an option in the BIOS - Case Open Warning . Rather than a jumper . And it can be disabled there too .
