630079 2008-01-14 02:02:00 Hi
My IE7 program has suddenly decided it will not connect to the internet. The program opens normally to a blank page (my default), but when a URL is entered it says "connecting" and just sits there doing nothing else except filling in the progress bar at the bottom. (No activity on the modem traffic lights) Luckily I have Firefox but need IE7 for Windows updates. I have uninstalled the program and done a fresh install off the last PC world disk, but of course now it will not complete the portions of the install that require internet access as it is still behaving as I've described above.
Any hints or tips gratefully accepted including how to access Windows update etc from Firefox if that's possible. Then I'd toss the thing away!!
Cheers
Dave

630081 2008-01-14 02:17:00 Can you access the MS updates using the IE Tab addon for Firefox? Give that a try, it might work. Then goodbye IE7:D beeswax34 (63)
630082 2008-01-14 02:50:00 IE7 completely trashed my IE6 which apart from having no Tabs was OK.
Nothing to stop you getting updates with Firefox, only not automatic. I prefer this as I believe " if it aint broke, don't fix it! ". You choose the updates you want, not Bill!
The IE add on may work, havn't bothered to try it.

630083 2008-01-14 02:54:00 You'll need IEtab, and maybe the WGA plugin for FF.

These do work, I use it for Windowsupdate and the MS download site.
