| 629880 | 2008-01-13 00:16:00 | I have the above computer in front of me. The owner would like a DVD writer installed. How do I get the front cover off? Already searched HP sites but no info on how to do this that I can find. One side panel off. The other side panel has rivets. There is a button on top of the tower case connected to the front panel which looks like a lock. |

| 629881 | 2008-01-13 00:24:00 | Most of the Compaq's I've seen the whole cover comes off. You unscrew the screws (or put your hands under the front), and slide it towards the front of the case. Theyre not that easy to get into! Altho this may help (h10025.www1.hp.com) |

| 629882 | 2008-01-13 02:21:00 | Going from Memory - and some Compaq's are different, with the side off the case look and you may see several tabs, two at the bottom, and possibly 4 near the sides, (two each Side of the case) Gently push down the bottom tabs, then at the same time pull out the bottom of the front panel slightly, then once free, do the same for the side tabs ( you need about 4 hands here sometimes :lol: ) once the tabs are free, up the top near the optical drive is a clip/leaver you need to press in, this releases the top hidden latch and the whole front pulls away. Remove drives as needed. |
