629843 2008-01-12 23:54:00 Hi,

I imported my files from a Sony handycam hdr-sr7E onto my computer then I found out that windows media player couldn't open the format the files were in. I tried to convert the files to MPEG-2 using the picture motion software but the videos had no sound. Can someone please tell me how I can fix this or tell me another way of how I can convert the videos to a windows media format?

Thank you for your help
Michael

629844 2008-01-12 23:59:00 And what format is is the video in??

And how did you transfer it to the PC??

USB? firewire?

And what version of Windows is installed??

If XP, did u try Moviemaker, to see if that could import whatever it is?

629845 2008-01-13 07:27:00 I transferred it to the PC by usb on windows XP using Sony's own Picture Cam utility. I am able to import my file onto the computer using this software. I'm not sure what format the videos are in though. When I imported them, there were 3 files for every video; MODD, M2TS and MOFF.

Thanks
Michael

629846 2008-01-13 17:17:00 That model camera is AVCHD format. Not a lot of software yet supports it.
Use the software that came with it to edit it or try with the newest Nero Vision I think supports it.

AVCHD is a joint format between Panasonic and Sony, however there is a slight difference in that the Sony software can not edit the Panasonic AVCHD recorded movies.

It is a hybrid Mpeg-4 format.
