| 631334 | 2008-01-18 01:08:00 | I bought a reasonably priced midrange graphics card about a bit more than 2 years ago (X800GTO) at a cost of $350. It has since failed but is only covered by a warranty of 1 year. I thought the consumer guarantees act would apply, so what is everyone's opinion on a reasonable time for a video card to last before failure? |

You know what the consumers guarantee actually says? Thats exactly it - a reasonable time - I've asked them and they say it all depends on the product. Your Warehouse washing machine is not going to be expected to last as long as say an F&P. Ditto graphics cards. What brand was it and I'll give you my opinion on its lifespan. |

| 631337 | 2008-01-18 01:52:00 | It was a connect3D X800GTO which was a bit more expensive than normal X800GTOs because I heard it came with more pipelines so I paid a bit of a premium. | jeffreyyan (719) | ||
| 631338 | 2008-01-18 01:57:00 | Yeah, average brand. If i was the manufacturer, I wouldn't be giving it any more than a year. Get an Asus or Gigabyte next time. |

| 631339 | 2008-01-18 03:22:00 | Also, how well was your case cooled? If the card was running hot all the time that wouldn't have been doing it's longevity any favours. | wratterus (105) | ||
| 631340 | 2008-01-18 04:33:00 | I'm running a Lian Li PC65 with 4 x 80mm fans and a thermalright ultra 120 extreme with a 120mm fan on the CPU cheers | jeffreyyan (719) | ||

For that sort of price I personally would expect a minimum of 3 years life. |

Just looked it up on Connect3d's site the cards come with a 1 year manufacturers warranty - Its only a mid range card. Some of the top of the range cards cost in excess of $1000.00 For a better quality card with a 3 year warranty you could be paying more - but then you get what you pay for. Gigabyte cards for example - no matter which model all come with 3 year warranties |
