630544 2008-01-17 23:40:00 OK, thanks everyone. I took a cover off yesterday and it appeared to only have 256RAM installed - there was an empty socket.

I took it to the techs this morning who looked and think maybe the RAM arrived but wasn't installed before it was given back to the owner. Anyway they found some and fixed it. All good.

Its good you found out, and now working correctly - But thats not good as well, esp if you paid for an upgrade, yet didn't get it.:groan:

630545 2008-01-18 09:08:00 Agreed Wainui and I'm cross about it because we deal with them, that's why the girl and her family went there. I know what I'm talking about (a bit :D) when I deal with techs and don't have any problems by comparison. Winston001 (3612)
630546 2008-01-18 10:00:00 What a blatant rip off, post the name of the company so we can boycott them, no way is that the truth. zqwerty (97)
630547 2008-01-18 19:03:00 I think that here is a good lesson..Winston saw how easy it was to check the installed RAM, its that easy to install it yourself.

And the thing I've learnt the hard way...ALWAYS buy RAM or HDD's from a reputable dealer.

Rant over.

So, did adding the extra 256 solve the problem? Does it run faster now?
