2008-01-17 02:23:00 | This 'Safely Remove Hardware' icon always appears in the System Tray although there isn't any removable hardware plugged in. When I click on it to check, it shows its my SATA HDD! What's happenning? It's an ASUS MB - M2N-MX SE with Seagate 160 GB SATA HDD. Is there a way to tell the system that it is a HDD and not a piece of removable hardware?

2008-01-17 02:32:00 | The safe remove hardware will detect any USB device attached to the PC - it could be a USB printer - etc This Forum (forums.whirlpool.net.au) also talks a bit about the problem.

2008-01-17 02:42:00 | To restrict the Icon to USB devices only & not show SATA drives change Registry as follows:- BACKUP THE REGISTRY Then Under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\nvata go edit, create, "DWORD" name it "DisableRemovable" set value as "1" Only USB devices will show.

2008-01-17 03:17:00 | Make sure that the details are correct. DisableRemovable REG_DWORD 0x00000001(1) Works on mine

2008-01-17 07:33:00 | Did that but it still showing my SATA HDD C: , D: Because sata drives are, at least in theory, hot-swappable. So it will always show them same as any other removable drive. Just ignore it.
