630477 2008-01-15 14:35:00 I am having issues with my new MoBo/CPU. My PC freezes up atleast once a day. The MoBo is ECS PA1 MVP (V2.0) The CPU is a Pentium D 3.0, 2gig Ram. I went out an bought a fan for it, and is working at Temps of 30c - 37c. When it freezes I am just usally surfing the net. CPU usage is very low at the time. I am running Win XP Pro. I formated when everything was installed. Can anyone tell me what may be causing this.
Thanks

Mmustang

630478 2008-01-15 18:42:00 What version of windows? Is it up to date?

Have you scanned for viruses etc??

30 - 37 c sounds ok to me.

Get hijackthis in my sig below. Put it in its own folder. Run it then click on scan the system and save a log. Paste the log here.

I would get trojan remover in my sig too. Install it, update it, then click on scan.

630481 2008-01-16 00:06:00 That Temp is fine, Try downloading Memtest from My Sig, its a zipped file so unzip it, you will need to use your burning software to burn the ISO file, if you don't have a ISO software, theres Image Burn in my sig as well. Burn the ISo file, boot the PC from the CD, and see if the memory is OK.

PS: welcome to Press F1 if no ones already said it.

630482 2008-01-16 00:16:00 I don't like to say it - but if the RAM passes the tests it's probably the motherboard. ECS is a really really bad brand. :xmouth:

IMO the worst brand of motherboard you can buy.

630483 2008-01-16 02:24:00 in my opinion its the motherboard, samething happened to me where my mobo would overclock cpu on its own, try updating mobo bios might fix problem and yes in my opinion this is an urgent problem cause my mobo ended up dying on me and killing my cpu at the end. deathracer (11825)
630484 2008-01-16 15:37:00 Thank you for all the replies. The MoBo and CPU and Ram are all brand new. Just bought them and installed last week. Is there any way to test the MoBo? mmustang69 (13288)

I will be trying the Memtest as well. I actualy have an ISO tool on my pc so I do not need to burn. I will post results.
