631721 2008-01-19 03:06:00 I'm fixing to wipe my hard drive, what's a good way to save my data? Doing it by email will take too long, and I can't figure out how to save anything on a cd.

thank you.

631722 2008-01-19 03:24:00 And WHAT do you want to save ?? Just docs / emails? ??

You'll have to reinstall programs that have been installed.

631723 2008-01-19 03:25:00 A much easier way is to copy all your data to a flash drive or portable hard drive and copy it back once your pc has been reformatted. How much data do you have in terms of size. ronyville (10611)

I plan to use dban.

What I want to save is mostly pics, some docs., but thats it for the most part. I also need to save whatever programs I need to re-install after I wipe my hard drive.

Just as long as they're not already installed, they'll work

You cant copy programs then copy them back after a format, they wont work

631727 2008-01-19 04:42:00 Before you wipe your hard drive, here are a few things to remember to backup :)

* Your "My Documents folder"

* Emails

* Address book

* Favorites or bookmarks

* Cookies (if you want)

etc...

See this FAQ: faqf1.net.nz on other thing you should backup before you wipe your hard drive.

Good luck

631728 2008-01-19 05:11:00 You can also back up online (maybe as a 2ndry measure). There are a few free photo ones like as drop.io (drop.io/) and mediafire (http:), your own isp, and larger free sites like idrive (http://www.idrive.com/)... kahawai chaser (3545)

lol, I got way too many programs, personal account information, idk but I prob got tons of viruses, so instead of trying to dig in it and really screw something, I'd rather wipe it clean . It needs it anyways, its ridicously slow .

Hey its what you get for going with PC .
