631435 2008-01-18 04:09:00 Hi guys, as the title says I'm looking for anyone who has successfully installed a Toshiba USB Dyna Dock docking station.

I'm trying to get one going at work but am haiving now joy. I have done a search on the Toshiba site and google but nothing I've tried has worked.

Any help would be greatly appreicated.

Cheers

631436 2008-01-18 19:21:00 Did you Google? Seems to be various problems getting different parts working with it.
What is the problem you get?

631437 2008-01-18 20:14:00 Well I can't get the video (DVI port) to display the full size desktop. It only shows the extended portion of the desktop no matter wha I do... kind of defeats the purpose of buying one. When I plug a monitor into the Dyna Dock the notebook doesn't detect a second display at all. It only detects a second display if I plug the LCD monitor into the notebook itself which is not what I want. I noticed a graphics accessories download on the Toshiba site but the Internet at work crapped out for some reason and I went home out of sheer frustration.

More updates on Monday I guess... I just wanted to get some feedback from anyone with regard to ease of setup and if they got it to work what they did?

Cheers

631438 2008-01-18 23:02:00 What OS are you using? I had a look at one as well as Belkins version as well but on googling found heaps of problems where people are using Vista as I am.(and the Belkin one simply won't work with my laptop for some reason). It's a great idea but would seem it is just a bit new and needs a few bugs worked out yet. mattv (11815)
631439 2008-01-19 03:24:00 OS is XP SP2... i've seen the stuff on Google but trying to give it a go any way. chiefnz (545)
631440 2008-01-21 05:43:00 Well after a lot of fiddling and messing around with refresh rates and resolutions I finally got the video coming off the Dynadock.

I do still have one problem though which is...

When the computer is restarted or powered up it defaults back to an extended desktop display. Hence, you have to open the notebook to see the login screen. Once you do this Windows commences the docking process and the external monitor shows the preferred clone display.

Whilst the Dynadock is a novel idea it isn't has intelligent as the normal Toshiba docking stations. One of the things I don't like about it is that you still have to plug the notebooks power pack in so that it charges... the USB connection obviously cannot provide enough power to charge the battery.

I'm still trying to get it to work without having to open the laptop... so looks like I'll be doing more research.

Incidentally... being on hold in the call queue for 33m47s whilst be told I am 2nd in line doesn't impress me very much but I guess that's what you would expect from a call centre.

Cheers
