631467 2008-01-23 05:45:00 I see there is a new definition file dated 22.01.2008 yet the program will not update when 'check for update' is pressed.

Is anyone else finding this? Might be a case of downloading definition file and manually replacing.

631468 2008-01-23 07:02:00 A posting on the Adaware website states that they have stopped development of the SE edition but for a while they will post manual downloads for the update. They state that they will not post auto updates and you should upgrade to the 2007 version

631469 2008-01-23 07:23:00 I'd like to be able to type here that I hate to say "I told you so", but I actually like/am very pleased that I was not imagining it when I originally posted in this thread. zqwerty (97)

Oh well, time to ditch it then on my Win98SE machine since 2007 is not compatible for that computer. :(

Seems SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition is Win98SE compatible so will move to that.

631471 2008-01-23 18:15:00 While Ad-Aware SE Personal is still around and being updated then my Win98 computer is OK and I dont have an immediate issue.

Once that stops, what is an alternative to use (other than Spybot S&D ... which I also use)?

If You're such a hot shot ! why are still using Win 98 on the net ?

631473 2008-01-23 19:03:00 Using AdAware SE (build1.06r1) at work on Win XP. Updated fine for me this morning (web update) to definitions file: SE1R215 23.01.2008 ManUFan (7602)
631474 2008-01-23 20:36:00 I tried to update my SE version,I am on XP and it came back no updates available.
In light of what I have read here,I downloaded adaware 2007 and deleted SE,so now back in business.

Because Win98SE is the OS on the old laptop and the old laptop connects to my home wireless network. Connecting to the internet with it is not an issue .... running Ad-Aware SE obviously now is, when previously it wasnt.

631476 2008-01-23 22:48:00 I have had Adaware 2007 cause a BSOD during scanning now on 2 machines.
One had malware on it, the other did not.

The BSOD in both cases was 0x0000008E KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

Its on their forum, no response or suggested fixes.

Downloaded latest version, no difference.
