| 632564 | 2008-01-21 21:30:00 | Here's one to make you laugh Being the novice with coms that I am & new to many things I can use,I was over the moon when I found out that I didn't have to purchase another computer to shift all my data from A to B using F . A . S . T,sending everything to a folder on a slave drive or suchlike, from where I can send it to its new home . Beauty mate! So i set off on this course, get it all done and open up new C drive to see the usual 3 folders in there . Only thing is that there's nothing in them that I thought would have moved over in the transfer . 'Q' is,are they meant to? What I find that I do have is a Ghost image of old comps system folders with all data in them,as well as the new installations folders . 'Q' is, is that meant to be?? You don't have to answer those 'Q' s' but I'd be interested to know anything on it . Now,I'm away up town to get a new CMOS battery as fellow member recommended in reply to my last post & see if it'll get some serious voltage up the Khyber Pass of this Mutant box I seem to have created and get it up and running as it should . If it don't I'll definitely be Howling at the moon Compaq Presario S3010AN (desktop-3 1/2yrs from new even though 6-7yrs old) OS: MS XP Home + SP2 v5 . 1 . 2600 Build 2600 CPU: AMD Athlon XP2000+ 1 . 67GHz MoBo: FIC KM266-8325 RAM: 768MB DDR 266 (1x512 1x256)both Memtest good PSU: Bestec 250W Chipset: VIA KM266-8325 HDD: WDC 800 (80GB) IDE ATA Optics: Asus DRW 1814BL DL QuieTrack Lightscribe Multi Monitor: Philips 170S LCD Flatscreen |

| 632566 | 2008-01-26 10:31:00 | I was asking if the Files & settings Transfer Wizard actually created a Ghost Image of my complete drive because that was what appeared to be the case when I transfered the backup to the new drives OS. At the end of the day I figured that everything that I had on the old drive, which included a copy of my XP home & SP2,had been backed up & sent to the new drive along with everything else in 5 partitions.Threw the lot out in the end & started afresh, having been advised on to the proper procedure re: transferring data using F.A.S.T Wiz. All done now |
