632516 2008-01-21 12:09:00 My 86 year old father died recently and my mother cant acces half the things on the computer because she doesnt know his passwords.
I have found cmos and bios recovery applications but need a basic, general one to recover Word doc and/or Outlook Express etc.

Any suggestions on how I can help her to download a simple program that doesnt involve registry changes?

632517 2008-01-21 17:55:00 there was a topic on this a couple months ago and a link was given to such a program, try a forum search.

as for the CMOS password, most motherboards you can use a jumper to reset this back to nothing, check the M/B manual

632518 2008-01-21 19:10:00 Sorry to hear about your lose.

To recover all passwords from the PC, try Nirsoft Password Recovery (www.nirsoft.net) - down load the files and simply double click and they will show all User Names & passwords . Some are obvious like Email etc.

The one you may want is Protected Storage Passview. This shows passwords to most sites that are saved.

Warning: If you have Nod32 installed you have to disable it - the way these work Nods AMON thinks they are viruses - BUT THEY ARE CLEAN.
