632424 2008-05-10 02:25:00 I don't play games on my Mac (what can I play...), but only on my Windows partition. Yeah it might be a driver issue, but I have windows fully updated (including sp3) and the latest drivers from ATI.

Plod sent me a message, so I'll check out his suggestion.

Cheers.

632425 2008-05-10 04:15:00 There are more games for the Mac than you might realise www.apple.com
but I would stick with playing them on Windows via Bootcamp and go with plod's link. The Mac Pro has actually just received a Nvidia 8800 card update which is apparently ideal for gaming although I am not sure if you can put that in an iMac.

632426 2008-06-29 00:24:00 It is a weird one. I installed the ATI catalyst control center and sometimes I can play games for ages without it going funny. So maybe it is a heating issue. music_man (5482)
632427 2008-06-29 01:15:00 I wouldn't be surprised if it was an over heating issue as I have seen many comments posted by gammers using the latest iMac suffering from the same issues. vitalstatistix (9182)
632428 2008-06-29 01:30:00 Do you have all the latest drivers for everything? not just video? make sure all your device drivers are latest versions.

I used to get a similar problem when running webshots desktop. every time it automatically changed the wallpaper, some games would turn funny colours if I was playing them at the time.

do you have any kind of program running in background?

632429 2008-06-29 01:48:00 Hi,

I'm not sure what else to update...

My iMac seems to be running at 41 degrees using Speedfan.
music_man (5482)
632430 2008-06-29 01:54:00 That would be pretty normal. I know that some of the iMacs have been having issues with the monitors which may be what you are experiencing. You could always take it into an Apple store and check with them. I haven't had any issues with mine but it is the last of the white iMacs. vitalstatistix (9182)
632431 2008-06-29 01:55:00 Everything in OS X works fine, so I doubt very much the Apple store will care about the windows partition. music_man (5482)
632432 2008-06-29 01:56:00 Ah you are probably correct there. I take it you are just using Windows for games? vitalstatistix (9182)
632433 2008-06-29 01:57:00 41 degrees is likely just your CPU. as far as I know speedfan doesn't check the temperature of the video card.

To check that, download this: www.techpowerup.com
If you've got a sensor on your GPU this will show it.

Drivers? well make sure you have newest chipset drivers installed for a start. You could check audio, lan too but they probably wouldn't cause this.

What about directX? that might cause problems if it's not the latest
