632567 2008-01-21 20:13:00 Hi guys I am trying to make my own Battlefield 1942 play without the disk as it is getting very scratched. I know you have to convert to ISO then use daemon tools to mount a virtual cd. But it still says I need the disk????? andrewb3363 (13307)
632568 2008-01-21 20:25:00 You will still need a patch to play without a cd. Bit of a grey issue, although as long as it's just for personal use, I have no issue with that. I will PM you a link. wratterus (105)
632569 2008-01-21 23:42:00 According to a number of people, a patch may not be needed

Mount the iso with daemon tools.
You may get an error message saying insert cd the first time you try. If that happens, just press continue a few times. If it keeps popping up, press cancel and try opening the exe again.
Now you will never need a cd crack for bf1942 again, just mount the image whenever you want to play.

Dont know if it works myself, but worth trying before patching maybe?

632570 2008-01-21 23:52:00 I think he's having more trouble with creating an ISO? Im not really sure.

An ISO would be the way to go...if he can get it working. :p

632571 2008-01-22 00:07:00 done it before, same reasons. no need for a no-cd patch. my discs are now completely destroyed, but still have the "backup" only thing ya have to worry about is file corruption. which isn't really an issue anyway. Cho (12330)
632572 2008-01-22 05:28:00 if you dont want to use another disk you can create a virtuwal drive and a virtual disk. Info about this was on a thread not too long ago (within last two weeks). nzjab06 (101)

It would have to be Daemon Tools in this instance as it is the only virtual drive emulator that also handles certain disc protection methods used on most games. However, the problem he is having is creating an ISO image of the game. Apparently Alcohol 120% (www.alcohol-soft.com/) is best for "backing up" games, and backing up to MDS rather than ISO is a good idea too.
