2008-01-21 06:10:00 | I WANT TO GET ANOTHER STICK OF 256MB DDR RAM. CURRENTLY I ONLY HAVE 256MB WHILE RUNNING XP, WHEN I UPGRADED DIDNT HAVE ENOUGH:2cents: . MY MOTHERBOARD IS AN ASROCK GE PRO M2. IT HAS CAPABILITIES UP TO 333MHZ DDR DIMM. CURRENTLY I HAVE A STICK OF 256MB SDRAM (333MHZ AND CL2). WHEN BUYING ANOTHER STICK DO I NEED TO GET THE SAME BRAND/SPEED/TYPE/SIZE TO WORK? APPRECIATE THE HELP. INCASE YOU SOMEHOW DIDNT PICK UP ON IT I WANT TO RUN DUAL RAM

Are you SURE it supports dual channel memory. The Asrock site doesnt say anything about this mobo supporting it. |

2008-01-21 06:38:00 | I dont know, probably because you dont see mobos with 1 slot. And I've downloaded the manual. The manual doesnt say anything about dual channel either.

2008-01-21 06:48:00 | any shops where you can get good cheap second hand 512mb memory in auckland central? | nzjab06 (101) | |
2008-01-21 08:19:00 | Don't bother with 2nd hand. 512 costs about $70 and a gig costs around $120. Or find someone with an old comp that's similar and raid theirs. I just cannabalised an old comp for bits for another one, and having a gig of memory really does make a difference. Dual channel doesn't talk about how many sticks of RAM you can have, it talks about a different type of RAM. | Thebananamonkey (7741) | |
2008-01-21 20:46:00 | What do you mean by a different type of ram? SDRAM/DIMM? 333/400? | nzjab06 (101) | |
2008-01-21 20:57:00 | Just open the case and take it in you favorite PC repair shop. They might not even charge you to grow more memory. SDRam is obsolete and it will most likely be "used". Who cares? darroll
