1422555 2016-07-01 00:05:00 Got another message about changing from Live 2012. Could one of the Techies put up a piece ( in little words) on what to do step by step. Please. Is this something the clumsy PJ should attempt. It will probably look easy to some!!!! Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)
1422556 2016-07-01 00:46:00 I've heard that "upgrading" breaks it completely from some users
(then wants to "upgrade" to win 10 if you don't have it - surprise surprise!)

I still have WLM 2012, and when it came about that I couldn't download mail anymore
(first one Hotmail account, then my other did the same 2 weeks later)
"Authentication failed - wrong user/pass"

Wait until it actually does do that, then go to the web page configuration for your mail

outlook.live.com

and change the POP options in the POP and IMAP setting from NO to YES, it will continue to work again...

1422561 2016-07-11 09:01:00 Got another reminder message today. Should the mail settings in Outlook.com be the same as in Windows live mail? port numbers etc. Thanks. PJ Poppa John (284)
1422562 2016-07-11 10:31:00 The issue is that Windows Live Mail 2012 will no longer work with your @hotmail.com, or @outlook.com (also co.nz)
If you have another sort of email address like xtra.co.nz this will still work with WLM.

So you will need to find an alternative means of seeing your emails.
Upgrade to Windows 10 and use their Mail App
Use Webmail.
Use another App like Mozilla Thunderbird
Use Microsoft Outlook, which you will have to pay for as a Microsoft Office package (or MS Outlook also pay for.)

Obviously they are trying to get everyone to got on to Windows 10

I use MS Office so I am ok but I have also installed Mozilla Thunderbird to see what it was like before I suggested it to a friend who had the same issue. It seems OK

I sometimes use Webmail when I am out and about so this may be sufficient for your needs
Use the following URL to login via Internet Explorer or Chrome etc
https://login.live.com/
The Login and Password are what you had set up in Windows Live Mail

1422563 2016-07-12 23:13:00 I still have Windows Live Mail 2009 and it works fine in win10 for my hotmail accounts and yahoo xtra. I think it must have come installed when I had my computer built a couple of years ago with win7 and I was able to get all the emails off my old computer onto the new one and into WLM 2009 to storage files. (you can tell I'm no computer tech). I was googling something else recently and saw that you could still download WLM 2009 from somewhere. bellbird (6169)

As I said - when it no longer worked on first one hotmail account, then another hotmail acc 3 weeks later, I found doing what I said above made them both work from WLM again, and both are still working fine (4 months later...)
