2016-06-27 02:17:00 | My faithful little Samsung GT-S5300 has developed a habit of vibrating in short bursts, at various intervals, despite there being nobody calling. The phone is switched to Vibrate Never but still it goes on day and night. I get the impression it is changing Cell Sites and thinks I want to know, either that or calling home, or clocking in for some other reason. I really dont know what is going on, but its bloody annoying if its on the table beside my bed and Im trying to sleep, or I am asleep and it wakes me. Any thoughts? :thanks

Its just the NSA rummaging through all your emails & photos. You know what govt spies are like, all clumsy & stuff, probably knocking over vases & bumping into tables inside the ph. And are you sure its the ph thats vibrating in your pocket :) |

2016-06-27 05:40:00 | Have you checked App Notifications under Notifications setting menu? Maybe one of them is set to notify you about something it thinks is important. Just go through the list of apps under that menu item, and Block Notifications for any suspicious apps (ie any apps you don't want notifying you. Also check whether there are some software updates pending for the system software. I know that on my Nexus 9" tablet that it always vibrates when an Android OS system update comes in (usually during the night), despite the fact that notifications are turned off. Google seems to override that choice. Another possibility is if you are running the free version of Eset Nod32 and the definitions are out of date. Eset try to notify you to update. The above are just guesses, because I have never had that problem with my Samsung phone - just suggestions you could try out.

2016-06-27 07:47:00 | This is a possible explanation ... forums.androidcentral.com > I had a similar issue on my s3 when I had it. It would vibrate for no apparent reason. > > Later on I found out it was the samsung account requesting attention because I was > not signed into it or it needed an update. It leaves no notification and will pop up the > message when you least expect it, then disappear just as fast. > > Try checking that if you set one up. Just go into the settings menu and tap on the > samsung account. It may say that a update is available. Download it and sign back > in if it doesn't do it automatically. Then just wait to see if it happens again. If you can't track down the culprit, then trying blocking mode for night time to stop any notification during sleeping hours ... www.samsung.com

2016-06-28 04:30:00 | Thanks Guys, Well it sure looks like there are any number of possibilities and the problem isn't specific to one model phone or OS. This could take some sorting.

2016-07-28 02:15:00 | Well after days of trying every trick in the book provided by Google, I struck a reply on one of the Help sites that was short and to the point. It read: Just uninstall Google Play and any of its updates! So, I thought nothing else worked Ill try it. Bingo, stopped the nonsense and the battery lasts days longer without need to charge and I get a nights sleep. :clap Makes me wonder what sort of current the vibrating unit in the phone draws, because it sure takes its toll on the battery. Anyway, all good so far and hope it helps others. :)
