1422354 2016-06-25 08:49:00 I want to connect my printer and my computer via a USB cable.

However I also want to be able to print wirelessly from my Samsung android Tablet with the minimum of hassle.

Is this possible?

1422355 2016-06-25 11:36:00 If there's a wireless modem/router here somewhere you can. If the printer is wireless, the install file may have an option to select wireless, or use a cable to install the drivers

Some printers if theyre wireless have options in it (most should have a screen on them) so you can select the wifi option.

All you have to do is select it find the modem's SSID, then type in the password for the wireless to connect to the modem.

Like here I've got 2 wireless printers. A Canon and a Samsung B&W laser. The Canon was pretty easy to set up. All I did was the above. Type in the password thats in the modem to connect to it. Even if I format, all I have to do is turn the printer on install the drivers. And theres no need to connect the cable, it picks up the wireless

I can print from the Lounge to the Canon or Samsung which are in the bedroom. I can also scan from and print to the Canon with the Canon Print Android app.

I can also print to the Samsung. Obviously I cant scan from it, it doesnt inc a scanner

It looks like you can use this app for your printer (play.google.com)

When you installed the printer drivers did it give you an option to use the wireless?

1422356 2016-06-25 20:50:00 You can also use"Cloud Print"" if you install it on the tablet. It works well for me. The job will sit in the cloud until both the printer and your PC are switched on and then print out. CliveM (6007)
1422357 2016-08-12 08:10:00 For the benefit of other users of the HP6830 ...You can't use wireless for printing from the tablet while you are using either a USB connection or Ethernet for printing from a laptop. You have to connect both the laptop and the Tablet via a wireless network. (Our laptop couldn't communicated via HP wireless direct so that rulled HP Print Direct out.)

Works perfectly but sometimes can be slow.

1422358 2016-08-12 08:51:00 I have a printer plugged directly into the modem.
Can find it with anything on WiFi.

Same here. Tried to run the printer in another room in our house off wi-fi but gave up and ran a cable to it.

1422360 2016-08-12 22:43:00 I dont think a USB / printer port on a modem is the same as using a wireless printer.

You may have to do something else to print to it. Depending on the modem you may have to install a program first so the printer will work

If you had this modem you would have to do this (www.tp-link.com.au)

As I understould the OP's question, was wanting to connect via USB to a PC .
Then be able to access it via wifi from other devices on the network .

1422363 2016-08-13 06:28:00 Our poor old Canon died so bought a wireless HP 3630.
Spent the weekend trying to get it running.
Our desktop has in connected via USB, but my lappy is wireless and just could get it to work.
Instructions next to useless so rang HP.
Got a real nice chap, somewhere in darkest Africa and some 90 odd minutes latter he had both computers and my cellphone printing.
Printer even has its own email address, so can send doc's, photos, etc to email and it prints all by its self.
Hope that helps?
