| 1419308 | 2016-04-19 06:34:00 | Anyone got anything on really high tides as per my example. I have another one. We lived opposite where Lynmall is now,a huge paddock and a great playground in those days. We used to swim in an estuary of the Whau that ran up the back of the New Lynn shops. There was a jetty that was well above the high tide mark but I can remember the jetty being totally submerged on one or two occasions in my time swimming there. Another example of extremely high tides. Mud, pctek is great stuff when you are a young fella. We used to have mud fights then clean up on the incoming tide. :) or.... swim out on the outgoing tide with our lunch on a tyre inner tube raft. Then come home on the incoming tide. Could swim like a fish in those days and the Whau was probably a lot cleaner then. Ken |

| 1419311 | 2016-04-19 10:09:00 | I know that. I have been around the sea for a fair bit of my early years. Fishing, boating etc. Had you taken the time to read my first post you would have seen the reference to King tides. It is the really occasional monster tide (which I can remember on around 3 times in my life) that are beyond the norm I am asking about. Probably to do with the Sun, Moon and Earth all lining up perfectly on rare occasions. :) Ken |

I understand and accept that the climate changes throughout history, but I do think we have helped accelerate it. So glad I'm not getting a sunburnt butt like so many in this forum. | gary67 (56) | ||

On the other hand had you read my post #13 and followed the links you would have seen an excellent explanation of Spring and King tides. HERE (auckland.kingtides.org.nz) You will note that Carbon, in any shape or form, isnt mentioned in the equations and calculations. ;) |

Did you feature in any of these photos Gary? HERE (www.stuff.co.nz) Note: Again Carbon isn't mentioned in the explanation. ;) |

From my first post . . . . I remember going there once at the time of a King tide and finding the sea up over the seawall and onto the grass to a depth about midway up my legs Ken ;) |

| 1419316 | 2016-04-19 21:49:00 | I'm looking forward to Montana having salt water beaches. I kinda miss the ocean here in Montana, although the cowboys here think a beach is a word that's supposed to be homonyminonous* to a female dog. * = new word I just invented. Well - when El Nino really delivers the ocean here in Hamilton - er, I guess all youse guy will have floating hats. I'm at 3,300 feet (about 1k-sillimeters I think) above sea level right now, so that might be problematic to the rest of the world - hey? Say --- here's an idea: youse guys all email me when you start to flood so I can get my boat ready. OK? |
