1419256 2016-04-19 07:28:00 Hey Joe, I was told youse :) guys were slowly introducing the metric system and have a lot of dual marking. Is this true? Only three countries don't use the metric system and they are...... wait for it.......... Burma, Liberia, and the US ;)

1419257 2016-04-19 23:32:00 I always thought that all American homes had a white picket fence. I took a (Google) walk around the neighbourhood. All the houses seem to be close to the road so front fences are perhaps impracticable especially for keeping lawns mowed. Bobh (5192)
1419258 2016-04-20 03:26:00 Ken ---- I try to not use sillimeters as a matter of principle. We had both values on our autos for a while - but since I haven.t bought a new car since 2000, I can't say what's current.

Road speeds are posted in TKN (The King's Nose) values and I bet that even if the whole rest of the other states decided to metricate things, Montana would be the last - if it EVER decide to change.

I still have ten fingers and an equal number of toes, but even though I am personally metricated, I refuse to knuckle under and go that way.

I have friend in NY State and noted lack of fences, would never do here for some reason.

Not necessarily a picket fence - and not even white either.............my side yard to the east. Looking at moon rise and my nearest neighbor - about 500 feet away - almost 300 yards or 30 sillimeters ... sumpthin' like that anyway. But the footage is correct.

1419261 2016-04-22 01:44:00 I would have thought someone living in one of the very few country's still using feet and yard's, that they would know 500 feet is 166 yards.....
(not hard to divide by 3 is it?)

and btw - a meter is only 3 inches more than a yard

1419262 2016-04-22 05:28:00 I always thought that odd - a country that prided itself on chucking all the Englishness - spelling and so on was one of the very few to keep the imperial measurement system.
Weird.

Bevy: It's a running joke here - what with "Up The King's Nose" and all. I try to obfuscate the Metric/English units of measure and slaughter them both. Anyway - any country that's on the Penguin Unit (1Pen = 26.25 inches) should not be throwing barbs at people who drive on the correct side of the road.

Just a joke --- see?

Weird .

Yeah - that was kewl! Chucking Redcoats into Boston Harbo(u)r .

But hey! I drink Darjeerling and sometimes Earl Grey - and I love Marmalade and Fig Pudding - yeah - I LOVE fig pudding!

And Bovril ( . wikipedia . org/wiki/" target="_blank">en . wikipedia . org)! But we use it to kill nematodes in our gardens .

Won't own a Brit car though . Brit motorcycle? Pretty much in the affirmative for that .

no, I don't see the joke really

The insinuation is that here in NZ, we are some kind of backward hick country not able to come up to "American standards" or something
