1418835 2016-04-12 06:09:00 Lead us not into temptation………… oh bugger it, prefect and kenj don’t read. :D

Honest John, it starts HERE (www.stuff.co.nz), and have a look down the bottom, wouldn’t you know it a “Blind Trust” that he knows nothing about and isn’t a trustee or beneficiary of.

7096

Makes me wonder why you would form one if there were no benefits? :D

And then THIS (www.stuff.co.nz). Well who would have thought? Yet another case of forgetfulness. :crying

Better cut him some more slack prefect.

1418836 2016-04-12 06:36:00 I wonder just how many actually understand what a blind trust is, or any other trust for that matter. Tax laws also appear to be beyond the understanding of many.

This whole thing appears to be just another attempt to get a hit on JK and that's worked really well for the left of politics so far hasn't it.

1418837 2016-04-12 08:10:00 Clive his problem is he isn’t up front.

If he had said “Of course I have a “Blind Trust” and been involved in “Tax Havens”, they’re perfectly legal, what’s your problem?”

Then I would have said, yep, you along with thousands of others.

But no, he seems to have to try and wriggle his way around everything, and has more reverse gears than a second world war Italian Tank.

Yes it should do Clive, but in Keys case it has only just been updated revealing what should have been revealed previously.

From previous Link:

“Prime Minister John Key has declared a financial link to a company specialising in foreign trusts.

The latest register of MPs' pecuniary interests, released on Tuesday, listed the Antipodes Trust Group Limited as a debtor in Key's entry.

On its website, the Antipodes Trust calls itself a specialist provider of trustee and associated services for foreign trusts using New Zealand as their jurisdiction of choice.

It says New Zealand "offers a legislated tax-neutral environment for New Zealand based foreign trusts which are a well-established vehicle for carefully managing the inter-generational transfer of wealth" and points out that provided the settlor and the beneficiaries are resident outside New Zealand and there is no New Zealand sourced income, the trust will not be subject to New Zealand taxation of any kind.

A spokeswoman for Key said Whitney had been his lawyer for a long time.

The difference between this year's pecuniary interests and last year's is that he has changed firms.”

Which begs the question “how did his new lawyer find out about his new found financial interest in the Antipodes Trust and why was it not previously declared”?

Read up on confirmation bias. It would appear to be a problem for some.:)

1418844 2016-04-12 20:32:00 Thanks for that Clive.

I couldn’t find the bit about the IRD chasing the NZ Herald for $68m but I’m happy to take your word for it. However, it could mean anything.
